FREE DiMageControl (get it? "damage" control!) for PC computer control of our Minolta DiMage A1 and A2 cameras using USB tether - see through the viewinder on screen and control camera settings and take the picture and download it to the computer! NEAT - I downloaded from
"JeanMichel Dubois has developed a freeware version of capture software for the KM A1/A2 cameras. This software allows remote control of the camera and includes remote focus using the computer screen. For anyone still interested in freeware to capture from KM Ax cameras, the files have been updated. Trilingual English/French/German version 1.1.8 is available. Fix: Preview before saving did
not use rotation value and garbled the display. Known bug on A1 only: cancelling picture saving then disconnect may lock the A1. Likely not a bug on my own but a bug in KM's SDK. This doesn't occur on A2 and I have no mean to debug on A1."
Cool!
Thanks for the lead.
PS - I asked what college you went to because I thought I knew a S.. R.. at Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US in the early 1970's!

Peter – Quick update for you. I’ve found a freeware version (DimageControl). Seems to work well and I’ve saved myself 100 bucks!
Cheers,
S..

Hi S..,
Where'd you go to colledge?
Anyway, I have NO PROBLEM with copying and sharing copyright material and letting the copyright owner tell me what they prefer (that is, IF they have a preference!). Since Minolta don't seem to care anymore, and Sony ain't in the DiMage business, I can't imagine why bulletin board moderators have a hissy fit whenever we try to trade hard-to-find stuff - it's not their copyright, and to my knowledge, all any copyright owner might do is ask us to stop ... but I suppose if it gets blatant and ongoing in the other forums and includes live
copyright stuff from Canon and Nikon, then maybe there'd be an expensive lawsuit against photo.net or other group. Oh well ... anyway, I have no problem sharing and posting Minolta rarities.
However, I don't have Konica Minolta DiMage Capture for the A2 - only for the A1, which is NOT appropriate for the A2 (though I think it works backwards compatible, that the A2 Capture also captures from the A1?). BUT, if anyone can find a copy, I'd be glad to find a host to share it with us all, as I have for, say, the Minolta DiMage 7ug v2 upgrade at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/dimage7/files/ section.
So, if anyone finds it, lemme know. Try the photostore UK link and wait - maybe they have one?
