Monday April 29, 2013 Today is Day 3

Cap & Gowns: Attention Seniors, if you have not ordered your cap and
gown please do so immediately.

Fall Sports Physicals: Stop in the nurses’ office for a permission
slip. The form is also online.

Lost & Found: Please check the lost & found in the main office by
Thursday. Items will be donated on Friday.

Used Clothing Collection: Please donate on June 1st at Van Wyck
Junior High, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Troop 10167 Booster Club will
receive a donation for the total poundage collected to help pay for an
educational tour of Europe.

Track Fundraiser: The track and field team is having a fundraiser at
Buffalo Wild Wings on Wednesday. For each check accompanied by a
coupon, Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 20% to JJ’s team. The coupon
is valid all day for both dine-in and carry-out. Pick up coupons in
the main office.

CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Interact:
- Please put recycle bins outside your classroom after period 8.
- If your room needs a recycling bin, please sign up for one in the
Main Office.

Senior Prom Committee: Meeting today at 2:00 p.m.

Teen Driver Safety Night: Attention Juniors, the Teen Driver Safety
Night is tonight at 6:45 p.m. An important presentation on Distracted
Driving will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m.

Concert Band: Concert Band’s trip over to RCK for the ensemble clinic
is approved for tomorrow. Students will travel to RCK during
rehearsal time and arrive back to John Jay in time for 7th period.
Please be sure to obtain work from your teachers in advance.

Junior Prom:
- All juniors attending the prom should stop by the main office to
pick up prom picture info.
- If you are leaving early on the day of junior prom, submit a note
signed by your parent with your ID number to the attendance office by
Wednesday, May 1st. On Thursday, May 2nd, your name will be entered
into the early dismissal report. Your name must be on this report in
order to leave early on Friday, May 3rd.

Senior Prom Tickets: Due to high demand there will be one final day
of senior prom tickets on Wednesday during all lunch periods in the
café lobby. Cost is $80.00 per ticket payable to JJ Activity Fund
Class of 2013.

Student Council: Information sheets and nomination forms for class
and student council officers are now available in the main office.
Elections will be held May 1-3. Any questions see Mrs. Scheffel in
room 223.

Multicultural Fair: Set for May 17th. If you would like to perform
or have a booth, signup sheets are in the Main Office.

SPORTS

Boys Basketball: Mandatory meeting for any boy who would like to try
out for basketball next year. The meeting is tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in
the gym lobby.

Interact Recycling Bins: If your room needs a recycling bin, please
sign up for one in the main office.

Juniors: If you plan to apply to either RIP or RIT, see your
counselor today. You could be eligible for a scholarship if you are
in the top 10% of your class.

the gym lobby.

Wappingers Crew Club: Good luck to Wappingers Crew as they compete in
Poughkeepsie today at 5:00 p.m. This is a local race; come out and
support the team! The race can be viewed from the HRRA Boathouse or
the Walkway.

it’s your time to bring glory, honor, and money to your class. By
participating in athletic and intellectual events, your team can gain
points for your grade, earning you a chance to win a cash prize for
your class. More info and team roster packets are in the main
office. Team registration will close on May 8th. The first five
teams from each grade will be accepted. Now it’s your chance to make
a name for your grade in events like dodgeball, quidditch, ultimate
frisbee, a dance-off, and more. Any questions, ask a student council
rep, officer, or advisor.

Powder Puff Game: Set for Friday, May 10th, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Players
need to arrive at 4:30 p.m. Brief captains meeting on Tuesday, May
7th in room 225. (EFPD vs. JJ teachers basketball game immediately
following.)

Multicultural Fair: Set for May 17th. If you would like to perform

Monday May 6, 2013 Today is Day 2

Attention Faculty: Each year, The Patriot Award is sponsored by the
John Jay Athletic Association offering a monetary award to a senior
who demonstrates the meaning of school spirit at John Jay. Please
check your email for details and the nomination form. Deadline is
Friday, May 31st.

AP Exams: If you are signed up for an AP Exam, you must be in the
main lobby by 7:05 a.m. for a morning exam and 11:05 a.m. for an
afternoon exam.

Cap & Gowns:
- Jostens will be here on Tuesday, May 14th, during all lunch periods
in the cafe lobby to deliver rings and to take late cap and gown
orders.
- Cap and gown distribution will take place Tuesday, May 28th and
Wednesday, May 29th during all lunch periods in room 112.

Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors: The JJ Athletic Association
Scholarship applications are in the main office. This scholarship is
awarded to one male and one female student meeting the following
criteria: minimum GPA with no failing grades in major subjects,
continued involvement in a JJ activity or sport, community
involvement, and continued education after high school. Applications
with attachments must be returned to the JJ Athletic Association
mailbox in the main office. Deadline is Friday, May 31st.

Bidwell - Hammer Throw - 3rd place...123'-3; Dante Harris - 200m -
2nd place - 22.5; Shawn Flynn - Pentathlon - 5th place - 2342 points;
Kyle Hassett - PVault - 5th place - 10'-0; Troy Dean - 3200m - 4th
place...10:12; Aaron Hamilton - 100m - 3rd place - 11.2. Lauren
Miller placed 1st in the javelin; Megan Kohl placed 5th in high jump;
the 4x200 relay team of Amanda Giusto, Josley DeLosSantos, Megan Kohl
and Sam Mosca placed 3rd.

Girls Basketball: Any girls interested in basketball can attend open
gyms starting today. They will run every Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 –
7:00 p.m. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Bianco in the PE
Office.

Hockey: JJ hockey registration for all teams will be on Thursday in
the cafeteria, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Come be a part of another
championship run!
