CENTER’s LIBERTY HEALTH FOUNDATION
Our Jersey City Medical Center is
Hudson County’s First Responder in case of a county-wide emergency.
They
provide numerous services in their state of the art facility and their
“Enhancing Life” program arranges for tours and outreach to the community.
Please come to this meeting for an audio/visual behind-the-scenes tour of the
Jersey City Medical Center and to learn about their recent accomplishments and
vision for the future.
Recap of National Make a Difference Dig, aka
Jersey City’s “THE BIG DIG”, Sat 10/22/11
This citywide event was a
major collaboration by Mayor Healy, the JC Parks Coalition, City Hall, the Div
of Cultural Affairs, the Dept of Public Works. 17,000 bulbs were planted
in 80 locations throughout the city. After the hard work, all volunteers
were invited for lunch and free admission by the Liberty Science
Center.
A big THANK YOU goes to the Group Captains, Co-Captains and
volunteers who turned out for this enormous event
Enos Jones Park
Captain Jenny Jobarteh organized 6 volunteers and 12 Daisy Scouts. Prior to the
Big Dig, they tilled and prepared beds for planting 200 narcissus bulbs in the
raised bed at the Brunswick St entrance.

Nordland and more than 50 volunteers consisting of neighbors, students, parents
& children from the Garden Preschool, Hamilton Park Montessori School,
Cordero School, the Scandinavian School, and McNair Academic H.S. They planted
600 bulbs, weeded, and picked up trash in the park.
Watch for
the spring blooms in the circular community garden in the SE corner of the park,
adjacent to the splash park, the playground East entrance, and along the South
walkway.
The HPNA donated water and juice boxes for the volunteers at
Hamilton Park and Enos Jones Park.

East District Police Dept alert:
There is an uptick
in auto break-ins. This is a crime of opportunity. DO NOT LEAVE ANY
ELECTRONIC DEVICES OR PERSONAL ITEMS IN YOUR CAR. Thieves will break in
even if they see a GPS suction cup mark on the windshield.
Thanksgiving
Turkey Dinner Drives:
The East District on 7th Street (West of Manila)
is collecting frozen turkeys. Hard Grove Café will prepare the turkeys and host
Thanksgiving meal for the needy.

activist Bill Gent is reaching out to the community for help in their annual
Thanksgiving meal outreach. Meals are prepared and delivered to the
homeless and homebound. The Port Authority Police help to distribute meals
to homeless who live below ground. If you can supply a roasted turkey,

Latex gloves in a lockbox available to
parents and nannies for trash pick up in the playground. Please email

in your stroller or bag when you’re in the park.
More trash cans have
been acquired by the DPW, but concrete pads are yet to be installed.
Annual Police Dept Toy Drive. Drop off new and unwrapped toys at the East
District 7th Street office or Headquarters at 8th Erie.
