Dear Bakarapet Hasher

The veggie Chefs were placated when some of you wrote in to say:

My spouse is a veg but she also has fish - no poultry or meat though

I am mostly veg (being an Iyer), but I eat a bit of NV too

etc

We classified them as Veggies with the ratio improving to 14/65 on our list.  There are 5 spots currently available at Bakarapet, and the ratio will get better if all or most of the spots are taken by vegetarians.  But that is no criteria, is it?

An important chef, Darling's Choice, who has a niece's engagement to organize on the Sunday of our weekend was read the riot act by his family when he told them of his intention to spend Sat at Bakarapet tending to the barbecue, & leave pre-dawn on Sunday to get back to Madras just in time for the morning ceremony.  We will miss his solid presence and look forward to other hashers filling in by spending about 45 to 60 minutes at the grill following the instructions of the other seasoned chefs and perhaps picking up a pointer or two.  The Chef Team is large, but they can do with a break to stretch & circulate amongst us and enjoy the looong evening. It will be nippy in Bakarapet, so being by the grill is a good place to be.

The music system has been organized to make up for the fact that our usual sound engineer Jessie will be away this year.  The goody bag bloats up with the addition of …  well, we will leave it at that and you can be pleasantly surprised.  The actual cost that we are now spending (cash outflow) on the stuff in your goody bag has now crossed 50% of the rego money.  This is not counting the free stuff that people have given us.  If you know anyone who can add something to the Goody Bag, please ask them, collect the stuff and bring it to Bakarapet.  Coordinate with Mismanagement for quantities and to prevent duplication. We have asked for and got a dozen new Indian Terrain shirts to give to the Trackers who help us find trails for us to run on.  They will also help us load/unload and do the heavy lifting. Does someone know a source of sarees that we can distribute to the approx 8 local village women who help chop and clean in the camp kitchen and also keep the loos clean and dry throughout the day?  If none of you know such a source, then one of us will buy the sarees and bring them.

IMPORTANT To Do:

  • Review your shirt size, if you have not done so.  Most have.
  • Check payment status.  Many Hyderabadis will pay today.  Don't have a blank against your name.  If the chq has been deposited or wire transfer initiated or you have given the cash to someone, call/email us.
  • MH3 hashers to indicate travel plans.  We can then plan logistics of carting stuff and other car pool arrangements.  A blank against your name is not a healthy sign, and you are causing grief to someone in Mismanagement.
  • Bangalore Hashers can also use the same sheet to coordinate their travel.  Optional.

See you at Bakarapet
