Dear Bakarapet Hasher
We did another recce of Bakarapet this Monday/Tuesday. The place is looking great. We did some homework, contacted the locals, checked that the flushes worked properly, etc.. The pic below is a view from the orchard at Tally Ho.
This time the goody bag we will hand out is going to be better than ever before. Two lovely Tees have been designed. They will be printed using a process not used so far for hashes in India and on material you would love to sweat in. Together they cost half the rego amount for the weekend. Expect a goody bag made by a Women's Self Help group, and whatever else we manage to collect this month. 24x7 supply of chilled beer as usual, apart from the gourmet food that this event has come to be known for.
Night time temperatures have hit a low of 14 C. I survived with a cotton T shirt and shorts, being too lazy to go upstairs to change in to the tracks and light jacket that I had taken. The scotch whisky that replaced the daytime beer diet must have warmed us from inside. It may be colder by the end of the month.
Too many people are planning to come up a day earlier on Friday. The homestead has limited accommodation (enough for hares who will mark the trail and the chefs), and the tents and cots will come up only on Saturday morning, so the early birds should bring their own tents or sleep under the trees or the gazebo in sleeping bags they bring. Saturday onward, cots, mattresses, blankets, sheets, pillows and a roof/tent over your head will be provided as usual.
Registration has been fixed at Rs 2000 per head. As always this covers everything at Bakarapet. Vans will be organised for the Madrasis, and that could cost Rs 1000 per seat. Those driving up on their own, please let Mismanagement know, so that we can give you some crates to carry to Bakarapet.
Madrasis will HAVE to pay their Rs 2000 by this Sunday at Run 558. Cash or a cheque favouring Madras Hash House Harriers. Others too should do the same in Bangalore/Hyderabad, where the collection agents will be Abnash "Pervert Producer" and Obelix (or anyone he nominates). The main thing is that the rego money HAS to leave your pocket and go into someone else's - it could even be any of our Bank's ATMs. Monday onward, we will start replacing non-payee names with those from the long list of people who want to come to Bakarapet for the first time.
Online transfer options are available. Details will be emailed on request.
