Join us Wednesday, August 13th, for the August JavaMUG meeting!

Abstract
This session is intended to provide an update for Java developers on the current state of the Kotlin language and ecosystem. The first half will include Kotlin idioms that promote data oriented programming, functional programming, structured concurrency with coroutines, and Java interop (all covered in brief).

The latter half will conclude with exposure to Kotlin in Spring Boot, Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose unlocking the next frontier in Kotlin development. This also happens to be the story of how a front-end challenged backend developer who couldn't CSS his way out of a paper bag discovered design systems.

Speaker
Vishal Reddy is a multi-disciplinary Software Engineer specializing in JVM ecosystems, with deep experience across Java EE, Spring Boot, and most recently Android/Kotlin Multiplatform development. Having worked in both traditional enterprise web and modern mobile environments, he brings a practical perspective on when and how to adopt Kotlin's expanding ecosystem.

Meeting Details
We'll be meeting at Improving Enterprises, 5445 Legacy Dr #100, Plano, TX 75024

The pizza and networking start at 6:30pm and the meeting at 7pm. Come have a great evening of learning with your fellow local Java enthusiasts.
