Need a Hardware Technician, MI
           
Job Title: Hadoop Hardware Technician
Location: Troy, MI
Duration:  4-6 Months
Rate: $23/hr on C2C all inclusive
 
MUST BE LOCAL TO MI

Requirement:
2+ years supporting Intel based server hardware in a large enterprise environment
Knowledge of  data center operations processes and procedures as they relate to the support of computer equipment
Ability to analyze, identify and repair Intel based server hardware problems
Demonstrated ability to apply problem analysis and resolution techniques to hardware related problems

Desired, but not required Skills/ Experience: 
Knowledge of Hadoop architecture and supporting hardware
Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and experience with creating logical and physical
diagrams as they relate to hardware infrastructure.
Basic scripting knowledge (i.e. Shell, Bash).
Use of Nagios to monitor and identify failed server components
Daily Responsibilities: 
Monitors and resolves all hardware based problems in the Hadoop infrastructure.

Daily activities include:
Check physical hardware for any warning or failed statuses.
Identifying failing hardware and notifying appropriate team(s) of hardware state.
Schedule replacement of failed or failing hardware within the Hadoop cluster(s).
Replace hardware which is no longer working within the Hadoop infrastructure.
Work with Hadoop Administrator and Data Center support teams to troubleshoot first level hardware and connectivity problems within the Hadoop clusters.
Manage problem tickets associated with hardware repair, updating appropriately with issue status
Coordinate the startup and shutdown of Hadoop systems and may perform file manipulations accordingly as needed to maintain Hadoop clusters.
Prepare and maintain documentation of physical Hadoop clusters within the data center.
Follow Data Center and Asset Management rules for accessing and maintaining the Hadoop hardware.
Proactive monitoring of Hadoop cluster health via system tools.
Manage spare parts inventory for Hadoop clusters.
