I came across this ad (posted below) for two jobs at the Japan Foundation Office in Sydney. These are serious, full-time positions that close at the end of the month. I would like to encourage those of you who have graduated and who are qualified for either position to consider applying.

Program Coordinator (Arts & Culture / Japanese Language)
The
Japan Foundation, Sydney was established in 1983 to promote cultural
exchange between Japan and Australia. We organise a diverse range of
cultural activities introducing art, culture and society, and
coordinate various programs supporting Japanese language education. We
have recently organised the annual Japanese Film Festival, which ended
in a great success.
We are seeking a highly motivated person for the following positions.
Position: Program Coordinator(Arts & Culture Department)
- Salary and conditions:
36K (negotiable) + superannuation. Permanent position subject to 1
month probationary period. Working conditions (hours, entitlements)
apply.
- Job duties:
(1) Plan and Coordinate events to promote Japanese culture.
Liaise with other program coordinators, artists and
relevant parties / organizations.
(2) Administrate Grant programme. (3) Update event information on our website and newsletter.
(4) All other duties relating to event coordination as instructed
by the Director and the Manager.
- Selection criteria:
(1) Experience in event coordination would be advantageous.
(2) Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and
Access.
(3) Demonstrated organisational and negotiation skills.
(4) Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
(5) Strong Interest in cultural exchange between Australia and
Japan.
(6) Holder of Australian citizenship or permanent resident visa
status in Australia.
(7) Fluency in both English and Japanese speaking, reading and
writing is preferable.

(b) A Cultural Event proposal:
Choose one area from Visual arts, Performing arts or
Audio-visual and plan any kind of event to introduce
Japanese culture.
The proposal should be in writing.

liaison with Tokyo Head Office.
(2) Coordinating Japanese language events and projects.
(3) Organising articles for newsletter and website
related to Japanese language.
- Selection criteria:
(1) High level fluency in written and spoken English is
essential
(2) Japanese language skills would be advantageous.
(3) Possess excellent writing skills
(4) Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Applications
(5) Demonstrated organisational and communication skills
(6) Demonstrated ability to work as a team
(7) Demonstrated attention to details
(8) Keen interest in cultural exchange between Australia and
Japan
(9) Holder of Australian citizenship or permanent resident
visa status in Australia
