Submissions invited for ARNA: Annual Arts Students’ Journal

Re-launched in 2008, ARNA: Sydney Uni’s Arts Students Journal is
different from the weekly publications on campus. It is an annual
journal that will give students the opportunity to have their writing
distributed in a literary anthology that is eclectic, contemporary and
highly sophisticated.

Published by the Sydney University Press, we expect this year’s ARNA
to leave a printed legacy and cement the journal’s resurgence. To do
this we need submissions from Arts students. We are looking for
topical and highly considered pieces in which students push the
boundaries of form and thought, to allow readers to see the world
through the eyes of 2008 Arts students.

Submissions can be in the scholarly/critical form (feature articles,
opinion columns, reviews, lyrical essays, critical essays,
translations) or creative form (fiction, poetry, musical score,
dramatic excerpt). Work must all be previously unpublished, as we are
looking to tap into contemporary and engaging voices- it is not a
retrospective anthology.

Additionally, language students have a unique opportunity to submit
short poems or creative pieces in a language other than English. This
is an excellent way to gain experience in using a non-native tongue,
with the added potential of having material published. More critically
inclined students may wish to submit an essay or opinion piece on
cultural, social or linguistic phenomena particular to their language
of study.

This is a rare opportunity to have work published in literary form;
and by sheer virtue of being an Arts student you have a voice that we
are looking to harness (the more unconventional the better).
Submissions are now open, and will close at the end of STUVAC.

Please send them in a compatible word document format to
public...@sassonline.org

GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

those enrolled in the Arts faculty. You do not necessarily have to be
undertaking an Arts degree. You are an Arts student by virtue of
taking just one subject in this faculty.
- Submissions must not exceed 2500 words in total
- submit text in size 12 font Times New Roman, standard word document.
Refer to guidelines established by Score and Photo essay sub
committees as to their preferred format.

plagiarism that the University holds.

As for contact information, all publications can be sent to

listed below). Questions or requests can be directed to either
rsan...@usyd.edu.au, ksco...@usyd.edu.au or to the relevant
