Dear All,

Here is an announcement about a very interesting-sounding Japan event to be held at Macquarie University. Check out the flyer and register if you're interested.

The MJS Centre at Macquarie University is organising youth seminar series.  Our main objective is to redefine the role of language learning, hoping that students armed with intercultural competence will make an impact in their future directions.

For the inaugural session, we are inviting two speakers.

Prof. Anthony Liddicoat from University of Adelaide will talk about a new paradigm in language learning - viz. Intercultural Language Learning.

Fr. Paul Glynn will talk about the underlying values and historical/cultural awareness which changed Australia/Japan relations between 1919 to present.  He is well known for his reconciliation movement between Australia/Japan by returning the Japanese swords obtained during WWII by the Australian military officers to the Japanese families.

I am sending a flyer in PDF format as an attachment.  Would you kindly forward the information to the students in your department?  The main target audience are undergraduate students who are interested in cross-cultural communications and international relations.

I hope many students will be able to join us.  Registration is essential as we need to order Japanese obento  lunch boxes.  No fee required for the inaugural session.

Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.

Kind regards,
Tomoko Koyama
