I just discovered the live-action after credits to End of Evangelion.. it
shows this girl in her uniform running plus a scene of the train and the
vending machines that look very much like the ones in the Anime.. at the
very end, it shows the girl's face and her short hair resembles Rei's
(except it's not blue.) Anyone have comments?

YES -- what is the source of your copy of End of Eva? I just put my US
release Manga DVD in to discover that the only credits at the end of
the movie are the English translations of the Japanese credits shown
in the middle (if memory serves me right...)

There is, of course, the very, very brief live-action sequence showing
Asuka, Misato, and Rei from behind on a crowded city street (which
sent chills down my spine when I realized what it was) during the
"what are dreams" scene.

Are you leading us on? If you're not, can you isolate the video in
question and post it someplace for the rest of us?

Also -- this would be a good time to post some rumors I heard once
about live-action footage that was planned for End of Eva and then
abandoned. Really fascinating stuff, if this script segment is true.

Link here (apparently j.a.e helped dig this up some time ago):

Yes, I have that version of the movie as well, I think it's an old
fansub version though.
That girl certainly does seem to resemble Rei somewhat, her school
uniform seems similar to the uniform Rei wore in the last episode.
There's a bit of Japanese text over the live footage along with some
brief Japanese voice over by an unseen male narrator (not anyone from
the Eva cast though). None of it is translated in my version so I've no
idea what it says. Somehow it seems like an ad for some unrelated
movie. This seems especially so when at the end, the words "1998
Roadshow", in English, appear as if showing a movie title.

I tried to cut out the sequence from my file so I could post it but my
vid editor gave some error about the file being corrupted. So instead I
put together a quick web page with screen shots of that final sequence
for those who'd like to see it.

It's a trailer for Hideaki Anno's next movie after EoE - 'Love and
Pop'.

IIRC, it's a story about enjokosai girls...

He is not, I have this scene in the spanish dubbed copy of the film.
Isolated its 1'34" (near 3Mb) and is not dubded.
Is exactly as he says, the sound is the Bach's violin Partita n3 (same
as death and rebirth), and from time to time are japanes still credits.
Anyone knows what they mean?

Hmm. Compare these screen caps (thank you, x2_s!) to this copy of the
Love & Pop theatrical trailer (with subtitles). They're identical. Oh
well. Interesting to see what Anno's been up to.

Well, that solves that. The shortest lived Eva mystery...

You know, it's things like posting binaries to a non-binaries group that
caused the third impact. That, and having a group of suicidal(I think
trying to turn the human race into a puddle of goo constitutes
suicidalness, don't you?) madmen attack you with mass-produced evas in
an attempt to incur instrumentality.
