While treating himself to another vacation at Mar-A-Lago last night, Donald Trump launched more than 50 Tomahawk missiles at Syria. And he did so without obtaining the authorization from Congress that our Constitution demands.
We must speak out against this right now. Trump is dangerously escalating this conflict, perpetuating the Syrian refugee crisis while refusing to help those families who are forced to flee their homes.
We all saw the unspeakable destruction that was inflicted upon Syrian civilians on Tuesday. The horror of that attack makes my heart ache -- as a former medic who served in Afghanistan, I’ve seen the consequences of war, and know that reckless, unilateral military action in Syria won’t do anything but create greater devastation and suffering.
Donald Trump has previously slammed America’s doors in the faces of Syrian refugees, yet now he uses their lives as justification for ordering military strikes, with no concrete plan or strategy, that escalate the very same conflict they are fleeing.
Let’s send a message right now that Donald Trump can’t be allowed to ignore the Constitution. Add your name to our petition today.
Our Commander-in-Chief just ordered unilateral action against a foreign nation’s military without consulting our representatives whatsoever. And it’s our sisters and brothers in uniform, their families, and more innocent Syrian civilians who will face the consequences if this escalates further -- not Donald Trump, and not anyone in the Trump family.

These situations are far too volatile and important to be left to the whims of Donald Trump and his fragile ego. The Constitution places the power to authorize military force in the hands of Congress for a reason. We can’t let Trump drag us into a new quagmire.
