Maharashtra State had passed 'GAUVANSH VADH PRATIBANDH BILL' in 1995 vide Serial No. 29 in both the houses at Mumbai and Nagpur but it was not converted into Act for want of President’s assent. because there was one judgment of 1958 of Mohammad Quresi in which 5 Judge Bench of the Apex Court has affirmed slaughter of Bulls and Bullocks after the age of 16. However, this Judgment was reversed by 7 Judge Constitutional Bench on 26-10-2005(that bench of 7 judge examined the legality of the Gujarat law, the Supreme Court changed this position and said that a complete ban on the slaughter of bulls and bullocks was also constitutional), hence now there is no hindrance against Maharashtra Government to pass the above Bill.
RASHTRIYA GAUVANSH RAKSHA SAMITI has decided to awake the State Government by declaring fast of 4 days (2nd November to 5th November 2012) at AZAD MAIDAN with the support of all Jainacharyas and Hindu Saints. A huge rally is planed on 5th November, 2012. From Chowpaty to Mantralay which will be converted into a big meeting at AZAD MAIDAN after the rally passes through the main roads of the Proper Bombay.
Shri Keshrichandbhai Mehta Adhyaksh of the Samiti and President of Akhil Bharat Krishi Goseva Sangh along with Haribhakt Parayan, Bhagwan Kokreji of Warkari Sampraday has demanded to convert the above pending bill into an act and total ban on export of Meat from the Deonar Slaughter house and other Slaughter Houses. &
