Hi everyone,

We are so happy to help share the news that Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga has been officially granted an approval for their refugee resettlement application!

IWR is very excited to support the resettlement work of Catholic Charities and others to ensure that refugees receive a welcome reception and integration into our community.

We will make a more formal announcement with insight from Catholic Charities in an upcoming newsletter.

Right now, we are just so happy to receive this final word. Please feel free to share with anyone you'd like!

We are so grateful to this community for help spreading the work that we do and the values we all share. Seriously. Thank you. Some of the immediate reactions to stories shared online were pretty saddening, but it has been incredible to see so many people stepping up to challenge this climate of hatred, ignorance, and misunderstanding. The words you have shared in public forums and private conversations are beacons of light.

As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said: Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Thank you for being light and love. Thank for the good work YOU all do as a community; it means so much to us! It is truly so amazing to have such strong allies, friends, neighbors, and advocates.

Have a great weekend, and we'll be in touch shortly. :)

Follow-up to this - if you respond to ithacawelcomesrefugees@googlegroups.com, your message is shared with the entire mailing list (just like this one!). If you respond to ithacawelcomesrefugees@gmail.com, your message comes directly to our Gmail inbox. We do apologize if this is confusing.

We're in the process of switching over to a more direct mailing list (which should eliminate a lot of the confusion), so keep an eye out for that!

Thanks!
IWR
