Good afternoon everyone!

The public is invited to a 12:15 pm lunch talk this Friday October 28 at Myron Taylor Hall at Cornell Law School entitled "The U.S. Immigration Debate: A View from Within".

In late 2012, Cornell alum Enrique Gonzalez (Law '91) was recruited by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) to serve as his Special Counsel on Immigration as well as lead negotiator for the Republican members of the Gang of Eight that were seeking to pass comprehensive immigration reform legislation for the first time in over 25 years.  The Senate passed comprehensive immigration reform in July 2013, but the bill died in the House of Representatives.  Mr. Gonzalez will discuss the realities of what it takes to get legislation passed in Congress and why comprehensive immigration reform will be difficult to achieve.

To attend, RSVP by 5 pm Wednesday October 26 to http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/international/Immigration-Debate.cfm.

Please feel free to share this with others.

Thanks!
