Hello everyone,
This will be one of the last few Google Groups emails we send. We are on track to migrate to a more effective and user friendly mailing list by the end of the week.
You will receive an email in your inbox in the next day or two, and it will contain a survey link. We would be really grateful if you took a few moments to fill it out. It will help us determine who wants to be on the mailing list and allow us to start creating smaller, more specific based on volunteer preferences. If you have any issues with the new mailing list, please let us know and we can try to help resolve them.
Second, I know we've all heard many updates, opinions, and reflections based on the recent election results. We wanted to take a moment and share our deep gratitude with this community. Your support is a candle in the darkness many people feel they awoke to today. Now is not the time to move to Canada; now is the time to show the communities that are feeling threatened that there are many, many people who care for them deeply. Thank you for making it possible for us to tell our friends that there are literally hundreds of people in Ithaca who are ready to welcome refugees and be a friend to a new neighbor. No one has to go through this time alone, and we thank you all for advocating for this cause, and many others.
There is a Love & Light Vigil on the Commons tonight from 7-9 pm if anyone is looking for a place to go and send a message of support and solidarity for the diversity of our country.
Lastly, we wanted to share a really neat event coming up next Friday (we'll share it through the new mailing list too):
Cornell Engineering Leadership Presents: Untold
Friday, November 18th, 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Herbert F. Johnson Museum Lower Wing
Admission: Free
We are a group of Cornellians united under the belief that everyone has a story. It doesn't have to be profound or crazy; it is important simply because it is what makes you, you. Over the past six months, we've been collecting stories from people in the Ithaca community. We've spoken to a woman who was in a coma for two weeks, a man who had to leave his country due to his journalism, and many others. Untold is not only a collection of stories through audio and photographs, but also a collection of hearts. We invite you to take a glimpse into these hearts, listen, and help make these stories told.
Learn more at: www.untoldatcornell.com and RSVP at the Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/198337733908910/).
