We wanted to share two informative events with you:

1. TONIGHT: September 9, 2016, 6:30-8:00 pm; The History Center in Tompkins County

The Road to Refuge series concludes with a Q&A Panel Discussion at The History Center, presented by The Ithaca Voice. Join us for coffee and a Q&A panel to conclude Melissa Whitworth's in-depth series about refugees in Ithaca: ithacavoice.com/category/road-to-refuge.

Coffee and pastries provided by Ithaca Coffee Company starting at 6:30; Panel discussion at 7pm.

2. Tuesday, September 27 (the night after the first Presidential debate); 7:30 pm; Cornell Campus: Rhodes Rawlings Auditorium, Klarman Hall 
"Borders and Ballots: An expert's view of the presidential election's impact on immigration and international exchange."

You're invited to important talk by Professor Steve Yale-Loehr of the Cornell Law School, who will analyze the immigration policy positions of presidential candidates Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump.  Professor Yale-Loehr will discuss the national implications of each candidate's proposed policies and the potential impact on members of the Cornell international community.  There will be opportunity for discussion and questions and answers.

Professor Yale-Loehr is one of the leading immigration attorneys in the United States.  He has practiced immigration law for over 30 years and has testified before Congress as an expert witness on several occasions.  He is frequently quoted in the national media and is co-author of Immigration Law and Procedure, the leading 21-volume treatise on U.S. immigration law. In addition to his research and teaching duties at the Cornell Law School, Professor Yale-Loehr is of counsel at the law firm Miller Mayer in Ithaca.

This event is sponsored by the International Student and Scholars Office, the Vice Provost for International Affairs, the Dean of Students Office, and the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies.
