I apologize for my protracted silence.

I've been updating the Web site with partial summaries of our e-conference, and have also posted two surveys: one is a draft tool for assessing your community's dog-friendliness, and the other is a "consensus survey" that I hope will allow us to expedite deliberations on April 22. Please include comments and suggestions as to how to improve these surveys, and let me know what omitted points you would like me to include in the e-conference summary.

You may notice that I have also attached an online registration form to the Web site.

A few other details:

Dogs are not allowed in the conference meeting rooms. If you are bringing your dog(s), please let me know so that I can try to find volunteer day-care.

About "dog owner": however harsh, the reality is that we own our dogs. We may treat them like family, but I don't believe it is incumbent on us to come up with a euphemism to describe dog ownership. After weeks of redundant meditation, I feel that the new organization should be called something like "International Alliance of Dog Owner Groups," in the expectation that d.o.g.'s will immediately perceive our intention to make vigorous common cause with them in their efforts. If the term "dog owner group" is good enough for MARDOG, NYSDOG, CALDOG, and TCDOG, we can safely adopt it ourselves (without, of course, deprecating other nomenclature).
