Congratulations to Vicki!!!
By the way, despite having her hands full with the Boneyard, Vicki was kind enough to serve on the steering committee of the Ithaca Conference.

Hello Everyone:

Last Saturday, April 22nd, was the Grand Opening of The Boneyard, Culver City's off leash dog park.  More than 300 people attended the event, which featured representatives from the EPA (our City got a $250,000 grant to reclaim and clean the land), L.A. County (who has given the City $150,000 for future improvements), or City Council, City Commissioners, staff, neighbors, donors and friends, plus our Friends of the Culver City Dog Park board. We have raised more than $130,000 in the 4 1/2 years we worked on this, and the money used to open the park is all from the money we raised. There was press there, but I have no idea at this point who they were, except for the local ones.

We had a dog parade, which was only approved about 1 1/2 weeks before the event, and we had a fabulous turnout. We had a local video production company filming and they will donate the video to us for future fundraising. A local photographer took photos and has the photos on her website. She gave out cards to the attendees which told them how to find their photos and which also that 20% of the proceeds would go to us. We're hoping people will buy items from her. Here's the link in case any of you would like to see the photos. The ground cover is the d.g. we've been talking about.  http://www.printroom.com/ViewGallery.asp?userid=PhotographerLori&gallery_id=367804&curpage=1

We announced our new fundraising campaign and will also mail our brochure out to our supporters this year, rather than have an actual fundraiser.

We were also thrilled that Lynn Stone, the Director of the 9 L.A. City Off Leash Dog Parks was there to cheer us on. She's been an invaluable resource.

It was a joyful event for all. Thanks to all of you for all your help along the way.
