Happy new year to you all,
Yesterday I made a very minor update to IsoriX and the new version has been accepted by the Comprehensive R Archive Network (i.e. CRAN). So in a few days, if you update your R packages, you should get the new version.
The new version was prompted by Posit (formerly RStudio) having announced that they will shut down the old website they use to host bookdown and instead want bookdowns to be served in the same website as other products (e.g. shiny apps).
The bookdown has thus now been moved to:
And the links had to be updated in the package.
While doing that, I reviewed that everything was working and... it did not.
The package I call internally for you to download the elevation data was not working in some conditions.
This was caused by a change in the package sf (the introduction of POLYGON FULL) that was not yet known by the package terra and since elevatr uses a combination of both sf and terra, it broke.
Luckily the maintainer of terra is always very reactive and the issue is now solved.
Yet, for things to work in all circumstances, you would have to install the development version of terra, waiting for it to become the official release (then a simple update would suffice).
Since installing terra from sources can be complicated, my advice is to only try to do so if the downloading of the elevation data does not work.
If it does, then forget about all what I said.
I did not test but my understanding is that it was only breaking when the elevation of the entire word were downloaded.
That's all for now.
