Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) revamped their ethnicity estimate, called My Origins, about a month ago. The lead geneticist, Paul Maier, who worked on it, made 3 short videos (each about 10 minutes, totaling 31-32 minutes).

Part 1 explains the new Chromosome Painting. Part 2 is some technical methodology. Part 3 explains why the estimates are a problem. I need to watch part 3 again, as that's where I get the most question (I like his tangled Christmas lights).

Of course they need more people in their samples. He did mention in part 2 that they used people who had all 4 grandparents from the same population. So if you are 100% Portuguese, please, Please, PLEASE fill out the survey on your Family Finder page. Don't wait until they are almost ready to release the next version. Be sure your sample is included. It can be found here on your page:
