Fellow Gamers:

A new season of Wednesday night Confrontation league/game night starts
approximately 5pm on January 11, 2006 at Agents Comics and Games.
Games of any size can be played from 150 - 400 pts for people who
might not have a complete army. As interest increases I am going to
work on integrating scenarios, tracking game outcomes, and possibly a
campaign. If anyone has additional ideas forward them on to me so that
we can make the game nights as enjoyable as possible. I look forward
to seeing you there.

Thanks
Bob

Bob and I are planning on playing at Agents tomorrow (Saturday).  Hopefully there will be a free table what with the 40K tournament and all.

Isn't the "pre-painted" tournament that Greg's putting on at BL scheduled for tomorrow? You may lose a few potential players because of this.
And if the 40k tournament tomorrow has a turnout anything like past tournaments you may have a problem getting table space.
Don't want to "pee on the charcoal" or anything, but I just though I'd give you a head's up.

True, planning on popping in to check on Greg's tournament.  So far we haven't had more than just us two playing, so lack of other players isn't a huge issue ;)
Reading the Agents forum sounds like they're not expecting to fill the tables, so for our sake hopefully that's the way it will be.

I do not think you will have to much trouble getting a table at Agents. The
last 40K tourney they had only had 10 players. It will be way cool if I can
get more Confrontation players then agents gets 40K players. BTW I found
that I can paint a large number of models in a weeks time, so 40 of them.
Sadly I do not think I will be able to get them all done 9 models to go and
I am running out of gas.

I would like to thank those who came by last week, there are definitly
more people becoming interested in Confronation. I am looking forward
to seeing and playing against peoples new armies on Wednesday. I would
like to know if you guys are interested in me running a tournement or
another demo in Febuary. I know that we are getting a good deal of
interest and we would only need around 8 people to run a successful
tournement. I would appreciate any comments you have about the two
events, I am shooting for Febuary 25th for either event.

I look forward to seeing people on Wednesday. If you have any
questions or comments about the tournement/demo email me. Thanks

I'm going to try to get over there on Wednesday. A friend of mine from
Salina came down and we played a game on Saturday afternoon. He's got some
absolutely beautiful looking Dirz. A couple of questions came up that we
weren't sure about.
Hope to see you guys sometime Wednesday after work.
Kevin
PS: I'm assuming that the Wednesday night thing is still at Agents?

Actually, maybe you can answer a couple of quick questions now.

* When spell casters use gems to increase the number of dice they roll, do those dice add to the total of the roll, or just provide more dice to choose the single best roll from?

* In order to impose the charge penalty (the -1 penalty when being charged) against large targets, does there have to be at least two or more medium size models charging that turn?

Thanks in advance.

to Iron-St...@googlegroups.com
* Whenever you roll multiple dice for a test, other than the 2D6 damage roll, pick the best one.  If you have the rule book, the rule is on page 20.  They also give a very good example:
    • On a roll of 4D6 a player gets a 1, 4, 6, and 6.  The player decides to roll the two 6s to improve the final result.  He could also content himself with a 6.
    • If he gets a 1 and a 3 on the re-roll, the final result is a 9.
    • If he gets a 1 and a 1 on the re-roll, then the test is failed.
So, if you decide to re-roll 6s, they are the only dice you get, there's no going back to the 4 in that example.

* Not only do you have to have 2 or more small or medium (both are force 1) charging, but they have to do it during the same activation.  This is where reserves can come in handy.  Say I draw a Griffin Templar card, and want to charge a Cyclops of Mid-Nor, but only 1 Templar would be able to make it.  I'll put the Templars in reserve, and wait until I draw the card for my Veterans of the Crusades (one of the models will be able to make it).  Then I activate both the Veteran and the Templar cards, and charge with both models.  Assuming they are both within charge distance, and pass their fear, the Cyclops will be charged since the force charging him (1+1) is equal to or greater than his force (2).

Complete rules are on page 36.  Some abilities affect charge penalties.  A Brutal fighter counts for +1 force on the charge, a Hard-Boiled fighter counts for +1 force when he gets charged.

Hope this helps!

Hey All:

Thanks to those who showed up last Wednesday to play Confrontation.
We had 2 400pt games played, Luke's Devourers vs. Kevin's Wolfen and
Greg's Mid Nor vs. My Alchemists of Dirz. Luke and Kevin's game was
pretty even until the last few rounds when the Devourers gained the
upper hand and quelled the Wolfen attack. Greg and my game was mildly
tainted by Greg's amazing ability to roll damage rolls predomitably on
the legs (I know Mid Nor are short but my Dirz's ankles ended up
hurting quite a bit by the end of the game).

I look forward to seeing more people there on Wednesday. Agents is
open till 9pm now so if you can't show up around 5ish, you can get a
later game in. To add some variety to the games I am looking into play
testing the new scenerios that will be used in the NACORD National
Tournements. It helps them out alot and gives this area more notice in
the Confrontation world. I added a post to Agents forums that has a
list of the armies that I play and paint, feel free to add to it.

I talked with those who were there last week about a tournement in the
Febuary to March range. I am thinking about either Febuary 25th or
March 4th. As of now I believe there is a Warlord demo on the 25th and
I wouldn't want to interfere with that so I am leaning towards March
4th at Agents (I am going to talk to the guys on Wednesday so we can
get the day reserved). The tournement would be (most likely) 3 games
1:45hr each, 400pts w/ scenerios. Prizes TBA, small entry fee like $5
or so. The more people the merrier for this so start passing the word
around to people who you know play.

Hope to see many of you on Wednesday, as always comments are welcome
on the league, tournement, ect...

Hey All

Unfortunately, there wasn't to many people at Confrontation last
Wednesday. Luke and I had a battle between his Devourers and my Dirz.

The game went back and forth with the Dirz getting a slight upper
hand at the beginning of the game, but then fear began to play a roll.
The (slightled retarded) leader of the Dirz (not me but Vargas) managed
to fail his courage roll and was left out of the frays along with a
heavy hitting Centarus Clone. With these two watching from the
sidelines the game evened out, but then the Dasylis Clone with his
Atlas treatment took on the Tyrant and Huntsman. He took out the
Tyrant and wounded the Huntsman before killing himself with too many
steroids. The game was close and ended with the Dirz on top.

I know Kevin was going to come in but we didn't have anyone there
to play. So Kevin, if you can make it in this Wednesday we guarantee
you a game against Luke or I. I hope to see some more guys in the
store on Wednesdays, we see the product moving off the shelves just
need to get in and play.

The date for the tournament is set on March 4th. This should give
everyone enough time to get their guys put together and some games ran.
I am looking at trying to get some guys down from KC, Topeka, and
Salina so definitely invite all. I have posted some details on the
Agents forums and will get something posted in the store. Who thinks
that they will want to play in the tournament? If you have a friend
who might want to play but doesn't have an army I will let them
borrow my Dirz or Sessiars (having them know that if they break the
mini or scratch the paint I will have a bat and sander in my car to use
on them, JK ;) )

Catch you all on Wednesday

Its almost Wednesday again, I hope to see you guys down at Agents for
Confrontation. Luke and I had a 500pt battle that came down to the
wire with the Deacon for Luke knocking off a good portion of my guys.

I was wondering who is thinking about participating in the Tournement
on March 4th? Is there anything special that you would like to see me
incorperate? Do you know of any others who are interested?

Also for those who enjoy the SciFi games, Rackham is coming out with
AT-43 this year which is going to be (based on rumors) plastic
prepainted models. Helps me out a little cause I am swamped with my 3
Confrontation armies I am working on getting painted. This should be
coming out this year (fingers crossed)

Catch you on wednesday.

Question about the tournament:  It's no proxies, but what about cards without models (Sisters of the Inquisition, Eclipsante Weaponsmistress, etc.)?  Standard substitutions?

Hoping to have more people playing tomorrow!  Not sure what my list will look like, but it's going to be different...

Cards without models are fine, I just don't want warhammer models out on the field or things along those lines.  Cadwallon, special releases, Cry Havoc cards... these all don't have figures so they are fine.

It's coming up on Wednesday night again, I hope to see some of you in
Agents to play Confrontation. Last week Luke and I had a bitter slow
game that seemed at first that it would be fast but ended up dragging
on. So knowing that I won't ellaborate the details.

The tourament is coming up in just under 3 weeks now, bring in your
armies and start warming up and trying out different lists. I have
descided on one of the scenerios that is going to be played, and am
just narrowing down for the final 2. If you would like to get an idea
of the list I am choosing from head to the NACORD website
(http://www.conf-federation.us/), also there are the score cards that
will be used.

Anyone intersted in joining NACORD, contact me and I will fill you in
with the details. If you are intersted in playing in the GenCon Indy
06' National Championships (for a all expense paid trip to the French
Open 07') you will need to be a NACORD member (as of now Luke, his
wife?, my wife, and I are going). Also you get access to limited
edition figures and cards in addition to the newletter the has a lot of
info in it. Any questions email me.

Hope to see you guys on Wednesday, if anyone has ideas of how we can
improve and get more people interested in Confrontation forward them
on. Also if you know people that have been looking at the minis or are
intersted in the game system have them come in and I will loan them an
army for a game to try it out.

Hey

It is coming up on Wednesday and Confrontation League night again.
Last week Luke faced my Goblins for the first time. The few tricks I
had up my sleeve (Juicy Appendix, Sharpshooters) worked out well, but
the average of STR 5 hits was not enough to open the tin can Griffins.

There was also a game this weekend where the undead came out of their
graves and put up a good fight but it was soon quelled by the Sessiars.

A good amount of interest is starting to build for Confrontation and
I am looking forward to seeing the armies on the field for the
Tournament on March 4th.

If you cannot make it on Wednesday night and would still like to get
in games, Luke and I are available and willing to come down and play
over the weekends. Also, for anyone interested in heading to GenCon,
they are supposed to announce this week the events and their days.

I am working on getting a Confrontation informational site posted on
the Wichita Gamers website and will be sending out the link whenever it
is at a degree of completion.

I hope to see you all in on Wednesday night, get a game in for
tournament preparation.

Hey All:

It's coming up on another Wednesday of Confrontation. Last week
Thomas made it in and played the Undead against Luke's Griffins.
Even fighting to destroy the heretics didn't save the Griffins as the
fell before Kain and his Black Paladins. The game started out slow but
the undead gained the upper hand when Arkhos fell to double 6's
stopping him in his tracks.

The tournament is coming up this weekend, March 4th. I hope to see
many of you there; come in on Wednesday to test out your army or brush
up on the rules. I will have information pertaining to the tournament
at Agents on Wednesday such as scoring and the different scenarios that
are a possibility to play. If you want this info and are not going to
be there email me and I can send it to you.

I am recruiting for NACORD, if you are interested in joining I can
explain more about what they are and what they bring to confrontation.
They are currently working indepth with Rackham to make them first in
the US market.

I am currently working on getting an informational site for Rackham's
products posted on the web. If there is anything that you can think of
that would be a beneficial addition send it to me, the more complete
the page the better response we will have from people looking at it.

Look forward to seeing many of you on Wednesday and at the Tournament
this weekend.

Hey all

It's almost Confrontation Wednesday and the tournament is over, time
to start trying out new armies and getting ready for the next event.
If you are just starting out it's a perfect time to play some 300 pt
games to get into the swing of the 400 pt tournaments.

To let everyone know, NACORD has reduced their membership cost to
$10/year. If you are interested in joining they are currently working
on getting an online application form posted in addition to a new
website.

There is a link to the pictures from the tournament on the Agents
forum; if you want a higher resolution email me and I can send you the
full size pictures. Sorry about the poor focus on some of the
pictures, it was Kiellie and my first time doing miniature pictures and
it took a while to get the hang of it.

I look forward to seeing people at Agents tomorrow night, I personally
am planning on working up my Goblin army or fleshing out my Ophidians.

Hey All:

It's coming up on another Confrontation Wednesday at Agent, we are
slowly getting interest build and last week we had a new army of Goblin
Pirates face off against my Goblins. At the beginning of the game the
two Black Trolls faced off against each other with mine getting double
6's rolled against him on the first hit. With this misfortune it was
an uphill battle for the remainder of the game. The Sharpshooters on
both sides had their way with putting holes in guys while a little one
legged filibuster laid double 6s on my Dai Bakemono. In the end it was
a close game with the Pirates coming out in the lead.

I have posted a poll on the Agents website regarding what people are
interested in seeing over the coming months. Options are between
another tournament, campaign, or another demo. If you could vote for
which you prefer then it will allow me to get some dates set that
"hopefully" fit into everyone's schedule better.

Also, I have been working on getting an online Rackham resource posted
with Wichita Gamers. If you wanted to check it out head here
(http://www.wichitagamers.com/bin/view/Wargaming/RackhamGames). If you
have any comments please send them my way. I am hopefully going to
work on this a lot more when I get more free time.

On Saturday March 25th there will be a tournement at Black lyon. It will be
250pts with a min. of 4 models and a max of 12. You may have up to 100pts in
characters, and have at least one character in the army (I am allowing
models like warrior monks and mages to count as characters and can take
independent upgrades if no other characters are on the field). No models
over 80pts. Entry fee is $10 and there will be prizes for best army, best
sport, and overall winner. It will be 3 rounds, each round will be 1 hours
and 15 minutes. After the first round there will be a hour lunch. If you are
interested come into Black Lyon to sign up, I will be in this saturday to
play a few games and I will answer any questions that may come up.

Hey all:

It's coming up on Wednesday Confrontation. Last week was a good
game between Thomas's Undead and Luke's Devourer. Luke was able to
gain revenge for the death of his Griffins from a few weeks prior.
Magnaram and the Korgan were to much for Kain and his Black Paladins to
handle.

Reminder: Greg is running a 250AP tournament this Saturday at Black
Lyon. It is still up in the air if I can make it because I am packing
my house that weekend, but I encourage everyone to head over and
participate. There is a signup sheet at Black Lyon.

Dogs of War comes out April 1st and I am planning on starting to play
that. It is a Confrontation based games that gives experience points
and such after each fight. I am looking to build a campaign based off
from these rules. It will probably be summer before I get that
finished up though.

Anyone who is interested, NACORD membership is now only $10/year.
You get access to limited edition miniatures, national ranking for the
tournaments you participate in, and now Rackham will allow members to
purchase the English cards though NACORD and not have to pay the 20Euro
shipping fee. Contact me if you want more information.

I am leaning towards running a Demo in April and then another
tournament in the May timeframe. If you have any interest for a
certain day forward them to me then I will talk to the guys at Agents.
Due to me moving to my new house I won't be playing next Wednesday
night, but I encourage people to head down and get in a game. See you
tomorrow night.

It is coming up on Wednesday night Confrontation... I am looking
forward to getting in a good game since I was unable to attend last
week. From what I hear there were some good games this past weekend.
Russ played Thomas, his Dirz vs. Devourers. It seemed like Thomas had
the upper hand and going for the win but the Dirz leader came back and
assassinated the Devourer leader and won the scenario.

For those who are interested, Dogs of War came out as and April
release. It is Confrontation based but us directed towards campaigns
and leagues where your warbands grow and gain experience. I am looking
forward to trying out some games and if people grow interested in it
integrating it into the Wednesday night games.

I am still planning on running a Confrontation demo during April.
After I talk to the guys at Agents I will set a firm date but I am
looking at April 22nd if the day is free to run it. I will know more
after tomorrow night. Also, to get more people available for the
tournament I would like to get the date set earlier then last time
(pretty much have a firm date by the day of the demo). I am looking
around may 27th for the tournament. Please bring up any problems or
changes that you thing would be good for this date. Also any input
about the last tournament would be great to make the next better. If
we have people join NACORD we can be a sanctioned tournament and then
you will receive a national ranking...

Remember, NACORD is only $10/yr to join. If you are interested in
joining and have questions email me. They are working on getting a
state & regional ranking in addition to the national racking and you
need to join NACORD to be listed. This helps for seeding at GenCon and
Orgins, if you are a high enough seed you get a 1 round bye
sometimes...

See you tomorrow night

Hey All:

It is coming up on Wednesday night Confrontation. Last week was a
good game between an unconventional Sessiars "little guys, centaurs,
and casters" vs. the Griffins Sered working to destroy the infidels.
While it went well for the Sessiars to start with, once Sered got off a
few miracles it tides turned and in the end the Griffins marched to
victory.

This week I will be unable to attend due to family being in town, but
I know Luke is going to be on the Agents forums looking for an
opponent. I encourage people to show up and give him all you've
got...

I have talked with the guys at Agents Comics and Games and have set
up a Confrontation demo for April 22 from 11-5. If you have friends
who are interested in learning how to play bring them with you and head
down to Agents. All armies and materials will be provided; more
information is available on Agents Forums and Wichita Gamers site.

I mentioned last week about the next tournament being May 27th. I
heard back from a few people and learned for one thing that is Memorial
Day weekend. Having events over a long holiday usually doesn't bode
well with people so I have opted to push the tentative date back to
June 3rd. I didn't want to make it earlier due to conflicting with
other events and proximity to the demo. Russ, I know that the original
date was good for you is the new one OK as well? Also, any input about
the last tournament would be a great help in making the next one as
good as possible. Did you like/dislike the scenarios. Were the time
limits to long/short...

Have a good week everyone, get the word out about the demo and
tournament...

Hey Bob,

June 3rd should be okay as well. I enjoyed the last tourney, the
scenarios were a lot of fun (I especially enjoy the unusual scenarios
that take the emphasis off of lining up and killing the other side).
Painting up some new stuff, looking forward to giving it a whorl.

Also, wanted to mention that I saw that a tourney was posted for St.
Louis in October, interested in getting a group together to car pool out
that way? Could be fun. I even know some people in Chicago, the 3rd
leg on the midwest iron man. Could be fun to play there as well. Let
me know.

Take care,

Russ

some of their higher point guys.

A reminder that this Saturday (April 22nd 11am-5pm) is the
Confrontation DEMO at Agents; If you want to learn the game system or
know someone who does come down. I will be providing the armies and
all equipment that is needed. In addition, I am writing up some
information on the armies so if you need to decide an army to play and
don't know about them this should help.

Another reminder, the next tournament at Agents is scheduled for
June 3rd. Make sure to get the day off work and don't plan on
working on the yard. Right now it is going to be a 3-4 round
tournament, 400AP. If anyone joins NACORD it can be a sanctioned event
and count towards your national ranking (currently since I am the only
member I know of we can't submit scores). Also, we might be able to
try out the new Rackham/ACD tournament pack that they came out with.

Like always, if anyone is interested in NACORD and has questions
contact me. They are looking to expand their membership to well over
300 this year and at $10 it is quite the deal.

I look forward to seeing people tomorrow as well as at the demo on
Saturday.

Hey all:

It's Wednesday and time for Confrontation tonight. Sorry the email
is running a little late, with the demo and the hail I was held pretty
busy. I hope that everyone made it though the hail with minimal
damage. The demo went reasonably well and gathered some more interest
in the area. I am looking forward to seeing some new faces in playing
Confrontation and at the tournaments.

There hasn't been any conflict with June 3rd being the date for the
next confrontation tournament. I am going to talk with the guys at
Agents tonight and get it posted and some notice out so we can gather
more interest. I will post the tournament rules here in a little bit;
I need to decide how I want to run this event.

I am looking at changing up the format of the Wednesday night
Confrontation to gather more interest. I am looking at varying the
games to include Dogs of War (the new expansion for Confrontation). If
any one has ideas of how to improve the setup forward them on to me
(Different: night of the week, frequency, times at night, game size,
game type, ect...)

If you haven't had a chance to see any of the upcoming releases,
you should look (www.rackham-store.com) there are some nice looking
models coming out.

I will be running a little late tonight but I plan on being to Agents
around 5:30. See you there.

-Bob
