From Janet Buck-Marusov:

My brain knows no one lives forever. My heart feels there are some who just go on and on. You have been a part of my entire life; you have inspired, taught, challenged. You have helped us to show we care about sharing song, about human rights, about this earth, about doing the right thing. You have sung and laughed and shouted and shared, and we have been the richer for it. Go well, Pete Seeger.

Music Icon Pete Seeger Dies
BEACON, N.Y.–Folk music legend, environmental and political activist, Pete Singer has died, friends close to the singer confirm. He was 94.
Seeger was born in Manhattan on May 3, 1919 and married Toshi-Aline Ota in 1943. Toshi Seeger died at the age of 91 last July.
Seeger leaves behind three children, Daniel, Mika and Tinya Seeger and six grandchildren.
Pete Seeger began his music career in the 1940′s as a member of The Weavers and was a prominent singer of war protest songs in the 1960′s and throughout the Vietnam Era. Notable songs include “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?”, “We Shall Overcome”, and “If I had a Hammer.”
In later years, Seeger became deeply involved with the environmental group Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, which he founded in 1966 to call attention to the plight of pollution in the Hudson River. The organization is the sponsor of the annual Great Hudson River Revival, a multi-day music festival that draws thousands of people to Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson.
