"Free Speech" on college campuses

I came across this link in an article on the unz.com website.

It is the response by a black student group to an email sent by the Claremont Colleges chiding them for wanting to ban the appearance of one Heather MacDonald 

at one of the College's Athenaeum. I am wondering if any one can tell me exactly what their argument is for banning the appearance. It is not something that comes clear

at first glance.

It’s been a while since I read anything by Heather MacDonald. At the time I could find nothing objectionable in it which doesn’t, of course, rule out that she’s adopted some unsavory views since then. But I never got a whiff of the kind of stuff they’re whining about.

Of course, the more objectionable her views are the more they need protection from this kind of bullying. And I’m ready to call a Poe on a phrase like “Anti-blackness”.

Best I can tell their argument is “Heather MacDonald is guilty of think crime."

It's based on the view that it is society's responsibility to shape up people with incorrect values and opinions.  We are all asked to join in shaming and shunning such people.  They should not be allowed to hold views that insufficiently protect the hurt feelings of unsuccessful people.  Means of silencing them must be found.
