The daily beast simplifies the issues in their article (surprise, surprise...) but the actual document they pick their straw men from is fascinating. The problem is that school administrators *do* need to pay attention to them.  Second tier

schools like this are in a battle for their lives, needing to bend over backwards to continue to

attract students or else go broke.

This is how the once great higher education system of the U.S. dies.  With a whimper.

I wonder if the "regressive liberals" (the students I mean, not the faculty/administrators that

support them) are self conscious enough to know what the ultimate cost will be of applying

their new-found leverage in this way.

Scott -- alas, agree. College students are natural short term calculators. And they're in grip of twenty-itis anyway. You will search a long time before finding enriched reflections on the future of the academy.

I make one and one demand of food-- that I like it. Taste and mouth feel go my way...it's authentic. Get either one off -- to the trash. Can't afford calories or salt I don't rate sensually delightful.
