I would like to invite you an any of your students interested in Latino Health Issues and Policy to a conference to be held here in DC from April 17th-20th. I am the National Coordinator for the National Network of Latin American Medical Students (
www.nnlams.com) and we have also been trying to determine who at your medical school and university may be interested in starting a chapter of our organization there at Georgetown. This would be done the the local North East Region, the Boricua Latino Health Organization (
www.nblho.org) and we love to see you at this conference in DC. The conference is jointly held by the students in NNLAMS and the physician group the National Hispanic Medical Association (
www.nhmamd.org). Below you can also view I have forwarded you a special invitation to a Thursday meeting of medical students prior to the conference with the NHMA to try to set up a policy/student section with in the NHMA to address the student interest in the many issues they deal with in government. By attending this meeting you will get your registration excused for the conference and can attend for free.

I can also send you our tentative program for student workshops and the NHMA program for the conference which includes many clinical topics that may be of interest to you. Board of Directors we would like to invite you and colleagues to assist in the
establishment of the NHMA Medical
Student and Resident Council at its first Meeting at our Annual Conference on
Thursday, April 17th, Washington Hilton Hotel, Connecticut Ave, DC
---at 8 – 9 pm at the NHMA
Suite (Elena Rios name). We were
hoping you might know local Washington,
DC medical or surgical residents
---if you can forward their names and emails I will invite them to join us.
We are excited about formalizing our relationships with our
member medical students and residents. The purpose of the Council is to develop
activities for NHMA medical student
and resident members at the NHMA
conference, develop policy recommendations for consideration to the Board of
Directors and to increase NHMA membership.
We will discuss organizational priorities, meeting schedule, and appoint the
first Chairperson to be our point person. Board Members will be meeting with the
group and refreshments will be served.
