to International Adoption
By: Lois Ruskai Melina---Amazon.Com. In addition to relevant topics
on attachment, bonding, behaviorial concerns, ethnic and cultural
identity, there are topics to ponder during your pre-adoption process:
Naming and renaming; When to discuss your child's adoption with he or
she; Contact with biological relatives; Dealing with Prejudice and
Racism.

We are very close in our adoption process of a 4 1/2 year old daughter
(we have two biological sons)and this book made me stop and think that
although our friends and family have questions as to how she became an
orphan or do we know about her birth mother, we have to realize that
this is our daughter's personal information and that perhaps this is
information that we should share with her before sharing with others.
It has also given me reassurance as to keeping her given name and in
continuing to embrace her heritage as she grows up.

Happy Reading!
