I am recruiting for two (2) positions for the Department of Treasury
in Washington, D.C. - One is for Senior Web Designer and the other is
for Mid-level Web Designer. Both positions are long term contract
positions (1-3 years) paying between $50.00 to $80.00 per hour
depending on experience. Both positions are full time (40 hours per
week) and 100% on-site. These positions are open to US Citizens or
green card holders residing within commutable distance to downtown
Washington, D.C. - I am only allowed to submit one candidate for each
role for now, so please have all of the required skills and preferably
the desired skills as well. A jaw-dropping portfolio would be nice
too.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a new team at the
Department of Treasury. This is a newer part of the agency,
implementing the cutting edge of open source technologies. The team is
a very collaborative, focused on bringing new technologies (social
media, CMS, wikis, etc.) to the forefront. You will have the
opportunity to support to the client’s Web Design Team to develop web
content which communicates the client’s key messages clearly and
effectively.
Responsibilities:
* Meet with the Design Team and content contributors to develop and
discuss strategies and plans for client’s web products, to analyze web
content needs, and to propose ways the client’s web products can
address those needs
* Create and execute visually compelling, polished, on-brand ideas and
designs that are public-facing and consumer-driven using design
software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
* Work with the web development team to ensure new features and
functionality exhibits high quality design, fit in with the client’s
style, and are easy to understand and use
* Assist client staff with gathering requirements and providing
guidance on design issues (technical, aesthetic and user-centered)
with various user groups
* Coordinate with client staff on draft compositions, reviewing
layouts and suggest improvements, as needed
* Present design documents for review with customers and senior
managers
* U.S. Citizenship is not Required. Green Card is acceptable
Qualifications:
* Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of
layout principles and aesthetic design concepts
* Create visual assets and supporting documentation for interactive
and print which can include graphics, style guides, animations, and
competitive research
accurately maintain these digital design files for storage and
retrieval
* Create detailed design and functional documents (mockups,
prototypes, specifications) that effectively communicate the visual
and interaction design for technical development
Desirable Skills:
* Develop website designs using CSS, JavaScript / jQuery, HTML, and
templates for standardized layouts of web pages, print documents and
products
* Develop user-interface design style guides that incorporate the
visual design elements
* Develop a visual design library for common user-interface elements
(buttons, icons, etc.)
* Create interactive prototypes as necessary to illustrate concepts
and details
* Develop HTML / CSS / JavaScript documentation
