I've been blogging about constraints at Not an MBA. How ironic.
Getting InnovationCamp off the ground has been one long series of
impediments^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hconstraints. Invitations.
Sponsors. Venue. Suggestions. It's been a challenge! The venue, in
particular, has been tough. We've almost lost it twice due to some of
the worst circumstances and timing I've seen in a long time. My new
theory is that impediments and constraints are a blessing is disguise
because they free you up emotionally to look for and try something
new. We've been blessed. We've also done a lot of innovating
ourselves. What wonderful irony.

Anyway, short update. We now have a place to post and discuss ideas
in advance of the camp. Check it out and make your suggestion (this
is a user-generated conference). Go ahead and grab a slot if one's
available. We'll work out conflicts day of the event.

If you can't decide what to talk about, take a look at the iCamp that
a group of BarCampers put together in India. There were lots of good
session ideas IMHO.

Hey, how am I supposed to be estimating the amount of time I'd need to
run a session on my automation ideas and demonstrations? It's partly me
yapping and maybe showing stuff over a projector, but I wouldn't mind
something significantly less formal. I haven't participated in one of
these before, so if the 'one guy talking' presentation style has an
alternative, and if it usually takes a certain amount of time, I'm
listening.

I'd plan for one hour and focus on the most important things first.
There's be time and space outside of each session for continued
discussions with people who are interested in digging in deeper.
Depending on how many sessions we actually have you may be able to
grab another room and continue.

Have we any projectors, internet connectivity, giant whiteboards, or
anything of that sort?

We will have wireless connectivity and overhead projectors for
presentations. If you have software you need to demonstrate you'll
need to bring a laptop with the software on it. We have easels and
large sheets of paper for ad hoc presentations, as well.

Thanks Todd. That sounds awesome.

Bryan,
I have been to 2 of these event types, so my .02 worth...
If the session is only for an hour, I would present the basics of the
material in no more than 10- 15 minutes,
and open it up to audience discussion.
Chances are you'll use some of your backup material during the
interaction.
Seems the idea of the format is to be audience led and group inspired,
not lecture/death by PP.

Yep, I agree Mark. This worked out wonderfully for me today.
