R2K Statement on Dudu Myeni's conduct at the State Capture Commission!

The Right2Know Campaign is appalled by the conduct of Ms Dudu Myeni during her cross-examination at the Commission on State Capture on the 5th of November 2020.

Myeni has placed an important whistleblower in harm's way. The chilling effect on our democratic South Africa needs courageous whistleblowers now more than ever.

We reiterate the call for protecting the commission from attacks by a few individuals and for the commission to be empowered to carry out its work unabated whilst ensuring that those who are implicated in aiding and/or playing a role in state capture are held to account.

We also call on the commission to do what is necessary within its powers and regulations to firmly deal with anyone attempting to undermine it’s integrity. We are appealing to the commission to take stern action against Ms Myeni for breaching the Commissions Act

Right2Know will continue its work as part of the Civil Society Working Group on State Capture.
