to indianmariners
Dear Sir,
Further to my earlier mail see again this gentleman writing
"Old mariners were wicked to a great extent. I was bed ridden for 14
months because of ragging. I had finished 4 moths at sea. The ship was
shifting to the buoy. So from the wharf it had to be unmoored. The
seniors commanded me to go and help the seamen[deck-hands]. They told"
u bloody r u on a honeymoon.Go and give a hand to the deck hands. I
did so. The tug was pulling . While casting off the ropes, one of them
hit my leg and broke it. I was 19. The doctor 7 times to set right the
leg. Still I have the deformity on my leg. Most of the mariners were
wicked no doubt."
This gentleman is 55, still he suffers deformity of leg.
a correction to my last mail. I have wrongly mentioned as violence
where as it should read 'violation'.
Human Rights Violation was prevalent in those days in Merchant navy.
