With heavy heart, we wish to inform you that an author,
an
educationalist and one of the oldest Indians in Stockholm, Sh Joginder Nath Dogra
, fondly known as Dogra Uncle, the Senior,
breathed his last in the early hours of 22nd October at the grand age of 91.
He was in
relatively
good health to the last, amusingly reciting urdu poetry from his death bed,
but finally sumbitted himself to the wishes of Almighty God.
His last words were Jai Yogeshwar. H
e lived a blissfull life, leaving behind a flourishing family including four children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren
.
The destiny brought a young railway g
uar
d from pre-partition Lahore to Sweden at the age of 63 after a brilliant career in Indian Railways
and later with the Food Corpn of India
. He was admired for his sense of humor, depth of knowledge- may it be religion, politics, Indian cultural or traditional values. Scores of countrymen clamped between the two cultures in Sweden & India, sought his advice, and often found in him solace and a shoulder to cry. He always believed that the best investment in life was investment in our younger generation.
The last rites shall be performed on Wednesday, 2nd November, 11.30 am at the Silverdals kapell, Helenelund, Sollentuna, followed by a Brahambhoj-
