We deeply regret to inform you that a scientist, academician and a pillar of the Indian Community, Dr Narendra Yamdgni, breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday the 29th January at the age of 84. Dr Yamdagni came to Sweden in the early sixties, when only a handful of Indians had found a home in Sweden and the urge to have a common platform for the Indian diaspora was stronger than ever before.
Soft-spoken, humble and learned, Dr Yamdagni never hesitated to guide, support and serve, as the Indian community started growing and establishing its own identity in Sweden. Be it the Indian Association, VHP, Hindu Mandir Society, or the Swedish Indian Association, Dr Yamdagni, fondly known as George Washington of the Indian community of Sweden, was the undisputed leader and has always been the foremost choice for guidance and support.
The vacuum left by Dr Yamdagni will remain unfulfilled for many years to come.
The last rites shall take place on Tuesday, 7th February, at 10.30 A.M. at Heliga Korsets Kapell, Södra Skogkyrkogården, (Sockenvägen 492, 122 33 Enskede)
