The Mn Immigrant Freedom Network is part of a national coalition called United We Dream - as part of this coalition we focus on developing a national strategy to help advocate and pass the federal DREAM Act.

 

Below we share an action alert so you can help make sure undocumented youth can remain in the country - please click on the link included in this email and write to our Mn Senators asking for their support in voting for deferred action for these young people:

A Message from United We Dream:

 

We have some amazing news!
 
Yesterday, Senators Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and 20 other courageous U.S. Senators asked for deferred action for undocumented youth all over the country.

These 22 Senators stood up for justice — taking the side of thousands of innocent and talented undocumented students — like Mario Perez (TX), Mariano (CT), Mario (GA,), Lizza and Karen (FL) and Manolo and his family (TN), whom you supported through the signing of their petitions.
 
If given deferred action, these students would be allowed to remain in the country, halting their deportations to countries they barely know.

In an open letter to President Obama, these Senators said:
 
“We would support a grant of deferred action to all young people who meet the rigorous requirements necessary to be eligible for cancellation of removal or a stay of removal under the DREAM Act.”
 
Representing the largest network of undocumented youth in the country, United We Dream would like to acknowledge the leadership of these 22 Senators and thank them for joining our fight against the injustices faced by undocumented youth in America.
 
With their leadership, we know we can stop the deportations of thousands of innocent young people across the country, who, like Senator Gillibrand, stated “current law unfairly punishes.”
 
We hope that President Obama will take the lead of these Senators to do what is already in his power: grant deferred action to innocent undocumented youth. We are committed to holding President Obama accountable to his words and actions in regards to the deportation of DREAMers.
