Dear MIFN Friends,

We’ve been busy organizing with our community and are urgently asking for your help.

Over the past two years we’ve been training over 80 Latino families to impact policy change and improve the health of our communities.

Recently, our Padres Adelante group has been participating in the redistricting process to help create a Latino opportunity ward that can help our community have a voice at the City Council level.

Even though we have turned out in numbers at every public hearing and have sent many emails to the Charter Commissioners, our voices and that of the Native American community are not being heard.

We invite you to help us establish a Latino opportunity ward and to join the efforts of our Native American brothers and sisters in this struggle – please come this meeting to learn more and attend the hearings to take action!

Latino, Native, and Somali Redistricting Organizing Meeting

Sunday, March 25

9:00am – 11:00am

El Colegio Charter School

4137 Bloomington Avenue South, Minneapolis 55407

Childcare, Interpreting and Food will be provided

Take Action!

Redistricting Group Meeting

Monday, March 26

2:00pm – 4:00pm

City Hall Building, Room 319

350 South 5th Street, Minneapolis 55415

See the Agenda here:

We also ask that you please write to the Redistricting Advisory Group and the Charter Commissioners to express the reasons you support a Latino ward and a Native American ward. We provide here a copy of the “We All Win” map – one that would help establish the opportunity to elect 4 people of color into office, instead of having all communities of color fight for only 2 seats at the Council level (as the Charter Commisioners would want it), view our map here:
