Okay guys, I have a couple last minute reminders and tips about callout that I’d like to tell you all.
.) Remember, ALL PEOPLE PARTICIPATING IN CALLOUT MUST GIVE A SIGNED RELEASE FORM (found at the bottom of the “Links” page athttp://illinoisclimbingclub.weebly.com/) AND THE $25 DUES FOR THIS YEAR TO AN EXEC BOARD MEMBER (if you haven’t already, we will accept them at callout, but please make sure to have the signed waiver and exact change or a personal check).
.) Make sure you bring enough water because there is no running water at Jackson. We recommend a gallon per person per day for drinking/cooking/etc.
.) Bring enough food and make sure to bring some good stuff! A lot of people on their first callout don’t bring enough food or only bring granola bars and things. Bringing something like pasta or soup to cook for dinner will make your night way more enjoyable!
.) Alcohol is allowed at night, but everyone is responsible for themselves. Please be responsible with whatever you might bring!
.) Bring enough layers to be comfortable at night! The lows will be in the 40’s.
.) Make sure to bring some cash so you can pay the driver your part for the gas. It’s tricky to get it to them later, so might as well bring it with.
.) If you are driving and haven’t been to callout, we have directions on the bottom of the “Links” page on the website,http://illinoisclimbingclub.weebly.com/ . When you cross the little creek mentioned in the directions, take the immediate left and find us camping somewhere along the road.
.) MOST IMPORTANTLY: I just want to remind everyone that the exec board and other experienced climbers are there to help get you guys climbing on some real rock, but they are not responsible for you. We are all adults and everyone is responsible for themselves, so please make sure to be safe, stay with the group, and respect Jackson Falls and other climbers. If you are unsure of any part of the climbing, PLEASE make sure you ask someone who can accurately answer your question. It may be tempting to pretend like you know what you’re doing, but for everyone’s safety, make sure you ask if you aren’t sure about anything.
