Dr.Paul Farmer,A Man Who Would Cure the World (hosted by Whitney Mortimer)
Paul is an anthropologist and physician, and Professor at Harvard University, specializing in infectious diseases. He is one of the founders of Partners In Health(http://pih.org/home.html), an international health and social justice organization. His work is the subject of Tracy Kidder's 2003 book Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World, whichdetails his work in Haiti, Peru, and Russia. He asks. “If access to health care is considered a human right, who is considered human enough to have that right?”
Here's our PROGRAM for Wednesday: 12:30 - Introduction – Whitney Mortimer will introduce Dr. Paul Farmer 12:35 – Dr. Paul Farmer will talk about the interactions and conflicts he has encountered as he attempts to secure healthcare for the poor in the developing world. 1:15 – Discussion - Whitney Mortimer will moderate a discussion, including speakers and audience.
