Could people pray a bit that Liam and I get a flight home? We are sort of stuck on Guam right now. Not a terrible situation but I would like to be back in time for his school to start.

Thanks.

The Peche family sends prayers, love and happy thoughts! Safe travels.

I'm not sure if you all know but we are moving back to San Diego! St. Louis is not our home, but sometimes you have to go away to find where home truly is.

My dad decided to retire which was a surprise and we are excited for them. Both my sisters are now in San Francisco and they want to be out west near them. They were worried if the job offer worked out for Phillip they would be bad about leaving and delay their adventure...however, the offer did not happen and we know that we are called back to California.

So, we are on track to move back this summer however we are considering to move back as early as January. We are exploring ways to do that and I'm going to begin my job search .

Anyways, long story but we are in need of prayers as we prepare our journey back home. We have been so grateful and blessed to have you in our lives and we are excited to get back and be with our Icon family.

Love,
Abi, Phillip, Chloe and Mark

Hi guys!

Thanks so much for your encouragement and prayers. Right now if things supernaturally work out perfectly (something that hasn't happened so far) we could be back in SD by the evening of the 31st. This can only happen if we catch and then are selected to be on 3 different flights (Guam, Hawaii, Travis AFB). Tricky because you are starting from scratch each time. The timing is SUPER tight. But we'll see. There are always back up plans to my back up plans, but I have to get off island first (swimming to the mainland is not a backup plan).

Free flights come at a cost. But honestly, the cost is worth it. If you've been following me on Twitter, you've seen a few of my pictures and updates. We have been living up the island life on Guam. I forgot how much I love it here and how isolated it really is.

You go to a restaurant and look at the menu. You order something off the menu. The waiter comes back in a few minutes and tells you "I'm sorry, we're out of that." Okay, you order something else. A few minutes later, "We're out of that too." Okay, something else . . . this goes on until you finally hit something that the restaurant actually has. It isn't really annoying (unless you are expecting something that isn't Guam) more of a ritual that happens everywhere.

It's amazing to me how in the last 11 years since I've been here how little has changed. The same buildings are in the same states of disrepair (not better, not worse) with the same businesses (it's funny because restaurants here that I love and go to would never ever be something I'd look at twice in SD: strip mall, moldering building). Of course there's been some changes--like new condos or the car dealership is more built up or a hike trailhead has an actual sign for it--but really, time here is almost twilight zone stationary.

We've done lots of hikes: jungle, beach, underwater caves, savannah with sawgrass. We've done lots of snorkeling. The best is when we get to hike to the beach and then snorkel. It's like a two for one. Liam loves "jungle hiking" the best he said (well, after 'car hiking'); and he's been a trooper. Game for anything. Excited about everything. It's cool to share this with him though he is less than impressed with any nostalgia I might bring up ("This is the beach where Daddy proposed to me;" or "This is the house we used to live in.")

I've managed to do my bucket list for Guam which included besides hikes and snorkeling eating awesome thai food and Filipino food and just having quiet evenings with friends as kids run all over the yards. Sunsets and sunrises are heart-stoppers here. The clouds form magnificent and gigantic shapes that seem to hover just at eye level. Montana has big sky that is horizontal over you, but small islands like Guam have big sky that is straight up vertical (see what I did there? :) ). It's like you can follow the clouds with your eyes as they billow and look up into God's glory. Actually, it isn't like. You can.

Liam is doing good. He has moments of needing his space (only child issue) but ultimately he is enjoying every second. He is already asking when do we get to come back to Guam to visit. I hate to tell him probably never.

Since we are delayed here, I'm trying to squeeze in a few more things. Guam has a microbrewery that wasn't there before and is open to the public on Saturdays. Since the next flight is late Saturday night, I am going to try to get a tasting there before .. . Also, if this one other hike is open . .. I know I know, I can't be too greedy.

Miss you all. Love you all. Hoping to see you soon.
