Having to re-run the wire from the transformer to the house was caused by a huge miscalculation by the contractor.  I understand how it happened.  The breaker box was put in the exact same place but the regulations require that they put the master breaker on the outside of the house (another box) which puts the power meter 12 inches further from the source.

It's not like you can pull on that wire and get another 12 inches.

This is a blessing in disguise.

I think the insurance will cover it because the fire burned up the old breaker box which was on the other side of the wall from the power meter.  Are those wires still good?  Probably not.

It looks like the cost will be $625 for Oncor's part (they don't do the trenching) and $4,500 for the trenching.

The contractor was really freaking me by saying that they could get all this done this week and get me in my house.  I'm thinking how?  I was wondering if they are going to try to pressure me to accept something that's not done.  I think the problem is my project manager.  He's not doing a good job.

My goal is to get my house done.  (Nothing more.)  I have to keep telling myself that.

If you remember, the city has a notice on my property that they have the right to knock down my house if I don't get it up to standards.

I talked to my Code Enforcement Agent this morning to ask for a meeting to get more time.  I thought today was my last day.  She said she had in her notes to follow up with me on November 4th.

That's great news because I have a security conference to go to in Orlando and I'm scheduled to fly out on Friday, October 24th.  The conference I'm going to is Infosec (Information Security) where I will learn what the latest things Hackers are doing.  Classes start on Saturday and it runs through Thursday.

I can deal with Code Enforcement when I get back.  There has been enough done on the house to where I'm sure they'll give me more time.

The things that aren't done that they are looking for:

-- Power Hooked up
-- AC Installed
-- All holes covered (the fireplace still isn't installed.  That's a pretty big hole).  I'm not sure if this includes the data runs.  It might not be because they are low voltage.

Just got a call, now they're wanting to get the final punch list today at 1:00 PM  (can I roll my eyes any further back in head?)
