CEDAR FAIR AGREES TO BE ACQUIRED BY AFFILIATE OF APOLLO GLOBAL MANAGEMENT
SANDUSKY, OHIO, December 16, 2009 -- Cedar Fair, L.P. (NYSE: FUN), a leader in regional amusement parks, water parks and active entertainment, announced today that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by an affiliate of Apollo Global Management, a leading global alternative asset manager.

Apollo acquires Cedar Fair theme park for $635m
Sandusky, OH - The total transaction is valued at $2.4bn, including refinancing of the company’s debt. The company had suffered during the recession, with third quarter 2009 revenues dropping four per cent to $519m, leading Cedar Fair management to announce plans to seek alternative arrangements to improve operating performance, including changes to corporate and capital structure.

Walt Disney Nephew Roy Disney Dies
Roy Disney, the son and nephew of The Walt Disney Co. founders who twice led shareholder revolts that shook up the family business, died Wednesday. He was 79. The company announced that Disney died in Newport Beach, Calif., after a bout with stomach cancer.

Disney World recession cutbacks upset holiday guests
Orlando, FL - Although some of Walt Disney World's recession cutbacks have been subtle, such as reducing portion sizes in quick service meals or closing select gift shops, others have made a direct impact on Disney guests' overall enjoyment of the Disney Parks. One of Disney's more controversial changes is its decision to cancel the Lights of Winter, Epcot's annual holiday light display with a series of lighted arches synchronized to holiday music.

Disney to build park on cemetery
SHANGHAI - CHINESE authorities are trying to move 1,200 tombs from the future site of the planned Disney theme park in Shanghai before construction begins, state media said on Thursday. The municipal government has offered compensation to the families of the deceased to help them bury their ancestors elsewhere, the Shanghai Daily reported, citing cemetery officials.

Olympia accepts financial plan for new children’s museum
OLYMPIA, WA – The Hands On Children’s Museum has rolled out its financing plan for a new $18.5 million museum on East Bay. The Olympia City Council voted 4-3 to receive the plan Tuesday night — which was required before the end of the year because Public Facilities District revenue is involved.

Wait continues for aquatics center
CHRISTIANSBURG, VA -- Another delay has surfaced for the new aquatics center. Project architect Glenn Reynolds told the town council Tuesday night that the competitive pool in the center will not be finished until February, but that the rest of the facility should be completed by the end of January.

GREENSBORO, NC — Local swimmers should be able to dive into the city’s newest pools in 2011. Pending a final sign-off from the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, Shelco Inc. will break ground early next year on the three-pool Greensboro Aquatic Center.
