Dear all, we are pleased to circulate the call for abstracts for our symposium The World Algorithm: Knowledge and Power in the New Global Order (2–3 February 2026, Venice). Please note that the deadline for submissions has been extended to 15 December 2025.
The symposium aims to analyse the unfolding “polycrisis” by examining, in particular, the role of monopolies, technological rent, and AI-driven automation in relation to de-industrialisation and stagnation. The interaction between these dimensions of the crisis invites a closer consideration of the changing composition of labour and the expanding significance of knowledge and technological rent. Obviously, the conjuncture compels us to explore these dynamics in relation to austerity, new authoritarianism, and current military conflicts.
Confirmed speakers: Cédric Durand, Cecilia Rikap, Grégoire Chamayou, Ben Tarnoff, Moira Weigel, among others.
This two-day event is jointly organised by the ERC project AIMODELS and the Centre for Critical Theory and Politics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
We invite interested participants to submit an abstract (max. 500 words) and a short biography (max. 100 words) to worldal...@unive.it by 15 December 2025.
