Call for Abstracts (CFA):

We welcome submissions for the

2nd Heritage and Conservation Conference:

Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Nature and Culture,

which will be held at Yunnan University in Kunming, China, from August 22 to 24, 2026.

Conference website: https://www.ethicsnews.cn/2-Heritage-and-Conservation-Conference .

This conference explores the ethical and theoretical aspects of heritage and conservation through the lenses of different traditions, civilizations, and disciplines. In our interconnected world, preservation efforts must consider varied societal values, practices, and ethical principles regarding nature and culture, as well as how the very concepts of nature and culture are developed in different social contexts.

We intend to investigate various conservation and restoration theories and practices, as well as how heritage is and can be understood in relation to nature and culture, both globally and in terms of different traditions. We will tackle issues such as: How do indigenous and local traditions inform global debates on environmental and cultural heritage ethics? How can we balance universal preservation efforts with specific cultural practices? And how can the preservation, or even the restoration, of cultural and natural heritage couple with local development and well-being? What role does sustainable tourism play in preserving cultural heritage and protecting natural ecosystems?

By fostering inter-societal and interdisciplinary dialogue, we seek to enhance our understanding of these complex ethical issues while addressing practical conservation challenges. We invite scholars worldwide to explore how diverse viewpoints contribute to global efforts in protecting our shared heritage.

We encourage contributions highlighting cross-cultural aspects of preservation from various contexts. We welcome submissions from philosophy, anthropology, environmental studies, cultural studies, and related fields. Papers combining theoretical exploration with real-world case studies or conservation strategies are particularly valued.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

ž  Global ethical frameworks for building ecological civilization

ž  The meaning(s) of conservation and heritage

ž  Preservation theories, also in view of diverse ethical frameworks

ž  Indigenous knowledge and global conservation

ž  Cultural heritage and natural landscapes

ž  Conservation practices across civilizations

ž  Tourism, heritage management, and the ethics of site accessibility

ž  Ethical challenges in applying universal conservation policies

ž  Cultural heritage and natural environment from the perspective of “two integrations”

Submission Guidelines:

ž  Abstract length: 300-500 words

ž  Clearly outline the paper's thesis, methodology, and relevance to conference themes

ž  Submission deadline: June 15, 2026

ž  Submit to: edi...@eajp.online

ž  Notification of acceptance: July 1, 2026

Join us in exploring the ethical and theoretical complexities of heritage and conservation from a global, cross-cultural perspective, as we draw insights from diverse traditions to inform both theory and practice.
