HOPOS 2026
The Sixteenth Biennial Congress of HOPOS, The International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science
Ohio State University, Columbus (OH)
22 to 26 June 2026
The International Society for the History of Philosophy of Science, HOPOS, is pleased to announce that paper and symposium proposals for HOPOS 2026 can now be submitted through the congress web site, https://hopos2026.dryfta.com.
NEW Submission Deadline: 15 October 2025, 11:59 (PT)
The two keynote speakers for HOPOS 2026 are Peter R. Anstey (University of Sydney) and Heather Douglas (Michigan State University).
HOPOS is devoted to promoting scholarly research on the history of the philosophy of science. We construe this subject broadly, to include topics in the history of related disciplines and in all historical periods, studied through diverse methodologies. HOPOS 2026 is thus open to scholarly work on the history of philosophy of science from any disciplinary perspective. To encourage scholarly exchange that speaks to the cultural and temporal reach of HOPOS, the HOPOS 2026 Program Committee especially encourages submissions that take up philosophical themes that cross different cultures and time periods.
For detailed submissions instructions, please visit the Plan to Participate page, where you can find the Submission Guidelines. The conference language is English.
When you make your submission, you will be asked to indicate if you are able to travel to the United States to attend the conference in person. Although the goal is for this to be primarily an in-person conference, the organizers understand that travel to the US might present a barrier to scholars for a variety of reasons, so we plan to make space on the program for remote presentation and participation. We expect to send out acceptances by early 2026.
HOPOS will continue its tradition of holding a mentoring program for junior scholars during the conference. Details will become available here.
You will also find updated information regarding the HOPOS 2026 on-campus and off-campus lodging options that will be available to congress participants here.
