The Freudian Research Seminar Series (FRSS) - Call for Papers
The Freud Museum London is delighted to announce a third cycle of the Freudian Research Seminar Series (FRSS) commencing this autumn. The FRSS convenes virtually once every month and seeks to establish a forum which both cultivates and circulates new psychoanalytically
informed research. We welcome both PhD students and Researchers across disciplines to participate and form a community in which new ideas can be openly discussed and developed.
Our theme for the third series is ‘Technology’. We are looking for papers between 30–40 minutes in length to be delivered online from October to June. Potential topics include but are not limited to:

Pornography, a conservative mode of sexuality?

The matrix of the manoshpere / incels and the state of victimhood

Gaming and its alternative realties

Digital embodiment and the dislocation of the physical body

Anonymity, identity and responsibility

Digital media and the end of ownership of physical objects

AI: between liberation and psychosis

Companionship, intimacy and therapy in the digital age

New technologies at the time of Freud and their impact on psychoanalysis

The effect of technological ‘advancement’ on disability and illness

Are we all cyborgs?

Can a robot discriminate? Objectivity and the utopian promise of technology

The mediums of Photography and Film, and depictions of the inner world.

Artificial intelligence or artificial consciousness
-
Post-photography: the status of the image in the digital age
We also are accepting off-theme submissions; however, we will be prioritising on-theme proposals as well as those from PhD students and early-career researchers.
