With Dr Louise Richardson (University of York), Dr Komarine Romdenh-Romluc (University of Sheffield), Dr Léa Salje (University of Leeds) and Dr Joel Smith (University of Manchester) confirmed as keynote speakers, the organisers of the White Rose Graduate Conference in Phenomenology & Philosophy Of Mind, taking place on the 10th and 11th October at the University of York (specific venue TBC), are now accepting abstracts from MA, PhD and other students of philosophy or psychology which summarise the contents of a 20-minute talk they would like to present at the conference.

Funded both by the Arts & Humanities Research Council and White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities, this conference is an excellent opportunity for postgraduate students working within the traditions of phenomenologyphilosophy of mindpsychology and cognitive science to network with others in their field, gain experience presenting their ideas to an academic audience, and supplement their CVs.

Whilst the disciplines of phenomenology and philosophy of mind compose the general academic theme of the conference, abstracts eliciting an interdisciplinary approach on the subject of the human mind will still be considered on merit. Proposals that seek to engage with the nuances involved in neurodivergence and mental health are particularly encouraged.

In no more than 500 words, applicants should include in their abstract 1) an introduction to the subject they’re addressing, 2) an outline of the core argument, 3) reasons why their research is important to their particular field, and 4) a summary of the value of this research offers to society at present.

Submissions should be sent to daniel.gar...@york.ac.uk before the deadline on the 9th of August.

As this is a White Rose-funded conference, preference will be given to applications from White Rose University Consortium composed of the Universities of York, Sheffield, and Leeds. However, applications from Universities outside of the White Rose umbrella will still be considered. Train expenses will be covered for those travelling from Leeds and Sheffield.

Lunch will be provided alongside tea and coffee during intervals throughout the day. A drinks reception is also being hosted at the Department of Philosophy (Campus West) after the final talk on the 11th of October, should any contributors or spectators wish to attend.
