Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the call for submissions and pre-conference proposals for the next biennial International Society for Research on Emotion (ISRE) conference. The conference will take place in person at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, between 11 July 2026 (Saturday) and 14 July 2026 (Tuesday).

The ISRE conference is an exciting opportunity to meet international colleagues, present your work, and stay current with the latest developments in emotion research. ISRE members study emotions from a wide range of disciplines, including psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, sociology, linguistics, law, affective computing, history, anthropology, art, and design. Keynote speakers for ISRE 2026 will be announced soon.

Why Brisbane in July? For conference delegates, July is an ideal time to visit. Brisbane enjoys a mild subtropical winter, with sunny days averaging 20–22°C (68–72°F) and cool evenings around 10°C (50°F). Rain is infrequent, making it perfect for sightseeing, outdoor dining, and exploring the region. It's the best season to experience Queensland's laid-back lifestyle without the summer heat. Current currency exchange rates make Australia an extremely affordable destination for those travelling from North America, Europe, and Asia. More information is available at the conference website (isre2026.org).

Call for Submissions. If you would like to present your research at the ISRE conference, we invite you to submit an abstract of 300 words maximum by 21 November 2025 (end-of-day Pacific Time). Submissions are welcome from scholars in all relevant disciplines for symposia (of up to four talks and a discussant, or five talks), individual talks, and posters. We encourage those who would like to organise symposia to include more than one discipline to facilitate cross-disciplinary exchange. Talks will be 15 minutes long. Abstracts can be submitted online at the ISRE 2026 conference website (isre2026.org). Please consult the guidelines on the website before preparing your submission.

Pre-Conference Proposals. If you would like to organise a pre-conference, please submit a one-page PDF proposal to the program chairs at isre...@gmail.com. Proposals should include the names and affiliations of the organisers, a description of up to 400 words, and a provisional line-up of speakers and topics.

All abstracts will be subject to peer review by an international scientific committee. Accepted abstracts will be published in the conference program. Notification of acceptance decisions will be communicated in February 2026. Online registration is expected to be available shortly after that.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Brisbane in 2026!
