We are pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the special issue of the Journal of Logic, Language and Information (JoLLI) on "Logic for eXplainable AI" (L4XAI).
Scope
Explainable AI (XAI) has emerged as a crucial area in the development of intelligent systems, shaping how humans interact with, and trust, AI models. While much of the current XAI landscape focuses on heuristic or statistical interpretations, this special issue addresses the need for rigorous formal foundations. We invite contributions that explore the intersection of logic and explainability, offering mathematical tools for transparency, verifiable correctness, and dialectical interaction.
Topics of Interest
We welcome original contributions relevant to the logical foundations of XAI. Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Axiomatic foundations and frameworks for explanations
- Formal Argumentation Frameworks for XAI
- Causal Logic and Counterfactual Reasoning
- Explainability in theorem proving
- Logic for deontic explanations
- Logic for epistemic update and belief revision
- Logic for explanations under uncertainty
- Logic for fairness and trust
- Logic for human-computer interaction and dialogue games
- Logic for information exchange
- Logical foundations and frameworks for explanations
- Logic of multi-agent, interactive systems
- Logic of norms for explainable systems
- Non-monotonic reasoning
