We are pleased to invite submissions for a one-day workshop that focuses on the intersection of the philosophy of cognitive science and field-based methodologies. We welcome contributions from scholars who engage with “cognition in the wild” or who incorporate fieldwork into their research on Radical Embodied Cognition.

This workshop aims to explore how qualitative methods, ethnography, and/or behavior settings theory can inform and expand our understanding of cognition in real-world contexts. We invite abstracts that address theoretical, methodological, or empirical aspects of this integration. Submissions may include case studies, conceptual analyses, or methodological innovations that contribute to the development of Radical Embodied Cognition.

As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion in philosophy and beyond, we especially encourage submissions from members of underrepresented groups.

Researchers from philosophy, cognitive science, anthropology, psychology, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply. The questions to be addressed include, but are not limited to:

-             How can ethnographic fieldwork inform or challenge assumptions in Radical Embodied Cognition?

-             What does it mean to “study cognition in the wild”? Methodological reflections from empirical research.

-             How do bodily practices and cultural contexts shape cognitive processes?

-             What role does the environment play in shaping cognitive norms and behaviors?
