CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN “INTERCULTURAL STUDIES” AT THE COLLEGE OF FELLOWS – CENTER FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY AND INTERCULTURAL STUDIES, UNIVERSITY OF TüBINGEN,
GERMANY

The College of Fellows – Center for Interdisciplinary and
Intercultural Studies (CoF) of the University of Tübingen is currently
inviting applications from international postdocs for Research
Fellowships for a period of up to 12 months in the field of
Intercultural Studies. The College of Fellows is Tübingen University's
Institute for Advanced Studies promoting interdisciplinary research.
This is reflected in the work of various focus groups at the CoF,
which bring together scholars of different disciplines dedicated to
specific topics. Successful applicants will participate in one of
these focus groups, which works on interculturality.

Applicants must have successfully completed their PhD; initial
postdoctoral research experience is welcome. Applicants are expected
to pursue their own research project in the field of intercultural and
global studies, addressing fundamental questions regarding the
awareness of the coexistence of different cultures in the global world
and their diverse relations to and experiences of nature. Applications
are welcome from different disciplines, including intercultural
philosophy, decolonial and postcolonial studies, and comparative
approaches. The focus group on Intercultural Studies has a
phenomenological orientation but also welcomes projects from other
perspectives.

Successful applicants are expected to organize a workshop at the CoF
and to participate in weekly research colloquia and monthly lunch
talks. Fellows must take up residence in Tübingen; very good English
language skills are mandatory. The fellowship contract will be
concluded with the university of Tübingen and has to be signed in
person upon arrival.

The University of Tübingen provides a monthly stipend of 2.350,- EUR
and bears travel expenses for the journey to Tübingen at the beginning
of the fellowship and departure at the end of the fellowship; working
space will be provided at the College of Fellows. The scholarship can
begin no earlier than January 1, 2026 (funding is currently guaranteed
until the end of 2026; if the fellowship begins later in 2026, a
decision on extending funding into 2027 will be made in summer 2026).
Fellows must have health insurance in accordance with German law for
the entire duration of the fellowship. The university’s Welcome-Center
will assist in finding suitable accommodation (on the fellow’s expense).
