Dear Colleagues,
I'm reaching out to invite you to consider this CfP for a special issue of The ANNALS of the American Academy of Political and Social Science that Dominique Brossard, James Druckman, Dietram Scheufele, and I are co-editing.
The volume will focus on the societal, structural, and institutional drivers of science-society divides and, most importantly, pathways to overcome them. We are particularly interested in frameworks, empirical findings, or institutional models that chart actionable routes toward good-faith, bidirectional social dialogues about science, including with communities that have often been dismissed as “anti-science” or "unreachable."
Please submit 1,000-word abstracts by Friday, May 15, 2026 to annals_g...@proton.me. Accepted contributors will be notified by Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Selected contributors will participate in a one-day workshop at the Morgridge Institute for Research in Madison, WI, USA August 28, 2026. Participants will present 2,500-word drafts that will be developed into 5,000-word articles for publication in The ANNALS due October 15, 2026. All travel costs will be covered for selected participants.
